My engine has erratic RPM. After start idle RPM high about 1500. After putting load on engine
RPM reduces to about 800. Then whilst motoring RPM will change by about 200. At one
time RPM dropped and selecting increase in power had no effect engine stopped. A restart
obtained by using cold start procedure. Once running idle RPM normally high.

Can you start by clarifying what engine.

Presumably a Volvo Penta but do you mean a 2003 or an MD2030

Is it a 2003 or an MD2030

a 2003D perhaps ?
