Valiant rib valve

Valiant rib 4.9 meters year 2007

I have to change two valves on my Valiant rib the recessed type.
One has been changed without problem, with the other I have unscrewed the out part and unfortunately the inner collar has come adrift and fell down in the tube.
Does anyone have any ideas on
A how to get it back the hole
B what do I do with it if I can't
C I presume I would have to put a different valve in a bigger hole if I can't retreive it?

Any help, ideas or little tricks or prayers would be extremely helpful.

I might start by trying my "giant pickled onion grabber":

(Obviously it's normally straight, not bent into a U!)

It's rescued a number of things that have fallen into small spaces on the boat.
