Predictably, charging stopped, suspected brushes, took apart and found to be short.
cleaning slip rings helped.
Brushes seem a bit embedded in goo,in holder.
Need advice as to what to order, ie is the brush holder a unit or do I have to unsolder etc to fit new>
Advice appreciated from Vic S and other knowledable heads !!
Bearings seem fine.I'm a bit in the boonies as regards a good auto-electician, but will be back in Rhone area soon and hope for a cure!
I have disconnected all the Sterling alternator booster stuff until I am sorted.
I have charging again but it must be on a wing and a prayer, with the remanents of the brushes just barely making contact.
Long weekend in France so nobody is the least bit interested in doing any serious work!
