Valencia Spain to the uk

We did 2000 miles between London and Gib, but we did coast hug allthe way, including into Cap Breton/Zumaya in the corner of the Bay of Biscay.
 
We took 5 months (mat to Oct), but it was our retirement trip and we just pootled along, staying anywhere we fancied (32 ports in all).
I recall (this was in 2005) that we budgeted £25 per night for marinas, we had a fair idea what the fuel costs would be (although they did increase a bit due to market forces and the pound falling and the eating out and drinking money was the same as it had been during our working life in London.
We had a fabulous time.

According to sea-distances.org it's 1,528nm @ 10kn taking 6 days 9 hours. Or.. 12,939nm @ 10kn taking 53days 22hrs via the Cape of Good Hope! ;)
 
Not sure how big your "very ugly" boat is but our marina fees from Porto to Port Medoc have varied between Euro 30 (Viveiro) and Euro 98 (Getxo, Bilbao). For single nights most have been in the range Euro 45 to 55. Our length is 16.9m. These are high season rates which will be quite a bit reduced if you do the trip outside of the June to August window. Rates are often reduced for multi night stays and almost always for full weeks. Fuel costs in Spain and Portugal varied between Euro 1.33 (Porto and Vigo) and Euro 1.03 (Santander). There had been some reduction in the oil price in the intervening period. The price yesterday in Port Medoc was Euro 1.28.
 
We've just done about 600 miles, from Mahon in Menorca and we're currently in Sotogrande just slightly East of Gibraltar.

We are 18m and it took us about 3 weeks so far, no rush and stayed a couple of nights in some places. Cost wise fuel was the highest in the Balearics along with moorings, no surprise there, Fuel €1.27 and €200 berthing. On the mainland rates varied from about €30 a night to about €80 with fuel between €1.039 and €1.139/lt

Don't forget the weather, even though it's summer we experienced a couple of days with 2-3m waves. We normally stayed an extra night wherever we were to allow the seas to die down. If you're cruising everyday you'll soon get fed up of seas like these so allow some leeway.
 
One thing to consider if you are doing the trip soonish, is that insurers often require you to have cleared Biscay by 30 September. They may even check your experience and suggest you have an engineer on board!
