Hello, to cut a long story short Volvo AQ211's carbs F****D Volvo as much use as ???? need two new ones. I have heard of the place in Uxbridge but cant find their details anyone got phone number address etc. Thanks in advance..
I didnt know there was a place in Uxbridge selling carbs!! There is the canal boat yard called Uxbridge boat center and then a motor factors called Cafcoes who were at one time getting into early parts.
If you had the sizes re manifold choke tube and jets I might be able to say if that pile of new webbers would fit ? . All my books dont have the spec for these
Cheers
Mick

Hello, thanks for the responces thud far. Yep Reel Steel are an American hot rod type of car shop reason being AQ211's Rochester carbs no longer available anywhere in the world ! so chevy V8 = Holly carbs. spoken to Holly and again not much help as you need to know the carb number and manifold number in order to purchase them ? no one will commit to ah yes you need !!!!!! So best advice from Volvo agent on the Thames go to Real Steel with a carb...
Yep Real Steel would be able to help, Phone em on 01895 440505, or you can take a trip over to Unit 9 Tomo Industrial estate Packet Boat Lane Uxbridge.
It would be worth taking your old carb with you, but before you spend loads of dosh on new carbs, what is actually wrong with your one. What have the "yard" or volvo told you is wrong with yours. Would be interesting to know/ Iwas told mine were shagged, but an hour on the lathe and a new set of bushes for the spindles it was as good as new. All the experts said the only way to go was a new set at about 650 quid, in the end the total cost was 6 quid and 2 hours work!
ah, now, when throttle spindles get worn they let air in hence engines hunt at idle then stall when dumped in gear and generallee runs crap, Burlen fuel systems in salisbury, maybe old sarum close by, are experts are carb repairs like this.
blooming cheek !!!
did you read the post ? I deal in carburetters and may have stuff to suit but would need to see what you have to check it .
I have some twin choke carbs that should bolt on then its down to chokes jets and throttle connection.
Barry is right normaly it's down to spindle wear so
open the throttle spindle then see how much wear there is ! not hard is it .
you have not said whats happening or not whats happening so I cant offer much more than that . Take a look on my web site httP://www.carburetterspecialists.fsnet.co.uk
Look for the zenith page thereI've put advice re checking carbs
cheers

BarryH is right, Thet're a really knowledgeable bunch in there. Go for the Holley 2BBL equivalent of your carb, or, change manifold as well, and go for 600CFM 4BBL
with vac secondaries for mor ooomph.
The only webber that works on a V8 is the Webber 500 also known as the Carter or the Edelbrock preferably on an Offenhauser or Edelbrock 360 Torquer manifold.
<font color=blue> Ahhh! Uxbridge, I had my first french kiss there behind a pub on new years eve. I was 14½ at the time and that was the day that I realised there was more to life than being a Monitor at the Saturday Morning Pictures. What has this to do with Carbs? Well it certainly revved me up.
