Using your Boat as A caravan

I take your point about the access but it would only be to sleep on so only access once or twice and a ladder would do the trick. I recon a saving of about £60 per time so worth a little laddering I recon

mmm. I'm not saying you could turn it upside down and use it as a buffet table but it looks pretty flat to me

Try looking a bit harder - it's a deep vee forward of the shaft. Aft has a shallow deadrise near the transom for planing as it's a semi-displacement hull.

I've always thought the ACM Elite is a very nice looking boat, and certainly better than any Sealine, IMHO!

viewed a 31 Elite that was nice build quality, rather flat hull (planing). As you'd imagine comfort in a chop suffered some slamming at speed.

I owned an ACM Elite 31 for 3 years and used the boat all year round on the Clyde and West Coast of Scotland. The yanmar engine was very reliable and pushed the boat to 24knts when clean and light, but would cruise all day at 8knts.
As already mentioned a very flat hull.......

Just a couple of comments found on here. One from an owner.

I'll have to take your word for it because when I look at the angle of the stands that shallow dead rise appears to extend quite some way.

It's possible to make any boat on plane slam so some degree if you're not in control of it .

The deep vee and flared bow make for a very comfortable ride in choppy conditions and probably the best seaboat I've owned - even above the Boston Whaler and Nimbus Nova I had. Certainly a boat I enjoyed owning and would buy again without question.

I wonder how many Sealines you'll find running around the West coast of Scotland all year round?

Sounds like you're trying to convince yourself. You're happy? Good. No need to pee on somebody else's boat unless you're deliberately trying to look like a berk, in which case you're doing a sterling job. :encouragement:

Now you just sound like a pompous ass.

I wasn't selecting any individual merely stating my opinion and one shared by many. If you don't like differing opinons you probably shouldn't be on an internet forum...

To be honest I don't even know why CLB brought up ACMs given they're not even towable...

Access on and off a trailered boat can sometimes be awkward for the other half. Overcome that and then the question becomes why wouldnt you?

Imo it's essential the fold down boarding ladder has to be well set up on trailerable boats because land access is from where most boarding is done. The extra long ladder is also useful when getting back on the boat after swimming.
Often something as simple as a sturdy square plastic box placed on the ground below the extended ladder will assist those with limited mobility for the first step

I've done it a few times on our last boat. Hauled it Spain and SoF.
We stayed in the boat as it is too big for any hotel, and you really want to keep to the motorways with a 28 foot on a trailer.

Strong word of advice though!
Overnight in VERY busy aires only with all the full facilities.
We around 6 years ago stayed in what was a busy overnight stop on toll road on way to SoF.

Pleasant July evening, lots of people around in the aire. Went to bed around midnight, at 4am knock on hull, 'Police' ....
full hour ordeal, with french drugs force police passports removed etc...

We get separated I am threatened with hand cuffs and arrest....
Short version, I smell a rat, row breaks out.
Police scarper.

Fake Uniform, Fake ID, Fake Police, and all inside the CCTV toll roads aire in France.
