Using Navionics Autorouting Over Drying Areas?

Perhaps it's not possible with a single route, but I'm trying to autoroute across Ray/Buxey Sand from Crouch to Blackwater and can't seem to force it to do it. Am I missing something or do I need to set up two separate routes (if I wish to use the autoroute function)?

Yes, navionics autorouting really takes against certain things it thinks are impossible, even if they aren't.

If you try and force it, the route just gets more surreal - I still can't work out why it insists on going right around sheppey and refuses to use the Swale.

I usually just do a manual route, but you can do two autoroutes to either side.

I never rely on the autoroute, but it is fantastic for a quick, "how far is it from A to B?"

When you have the initial auto route, you can drag and drop the wavepoints to where you want them to be and then save the route again, I also delete some of the wavepoints as it always does so many.

I find that it then can do some really weird shaped routes to avoid the bit it doesn't like.

It might be helpful if Navionics had ever bothered to update the drying heights. But they didn't there! Go to Downloads, scroll down and download the most recent survey. I would have done it again yesterday but I broke my laptop last week so I am waiting for repair.

To see the Ray Sand Middle afloat on all states of the tide is hilarious! It dries!

In fairness I don't think your electronic chart is up to date.

Oh and don't trust the Navionics at the SW Sunk swatchway. It is out of date and a half tide you will ground on the SW knoll!

The best water over the Ray Sand is down the 1 degree meridian.
