Using Autoroute for rough course plotting

Just playing with Autoroute to look at my transit from Rome to Barcelona next year and I realise that you can draw a straight line, right hand click, select 'show size' and it tells you the direct distance. Quite handy especially that my CMap cartridges only work with my onboard chart plotter

Did you remember to specify scenic route rather than Motorway ? and did you reset your cost per mile and speed preferences ?

Then and only then press calculate.
