Using automotive clearcoat as a varnish on wood

Has anyone tried using automotive clearcoat as a replacement for varnish or as a topcoat over varnish to give better UV resistance.

Basecoat and clearcoat work on cars for years so why not on boats?

Putting on a coat of varnish every 6 weeks is a PITA.

Milford Haven and Halfords, I made some bits using cheap white wood, stained it with wood dye and sparayed it with clear laquer. on my previous boat, i stripped a cherry wood, water stained, bulkhead and did the same, the surveyor never even spotted it!

Mind you you should see how it peels of cars out here in the Algarve.

Why?

Cos if you don't put a coat on every 6 weeks it flakes then you are faced with scraping it back to bare wood and 6 to 10 coats to do a proper job.

We get real serious sun out here!
