Hi there,
Considering getting something like this RA111AIS to have a dedicated AIS antenna for my AIS transponder. I would mount it on the pushpit.
The descriptions talk about these antennas being tuned to the AIS frequency range (161-162MHz) - however they often say they are "great as a backup VHF aerial for your radio".
If they're turned to a specific frequency range, will they still function usefully for other frequencies? i.e. are they actually great to have as a backup VHF aerial for your radio?
