I came back from Southend to Queenborough yesterday running directly downwind, about force 2. I would have loved to raise the spinnaker that came with the boat but have no idea how. Does anyone know of a website that might help??
Thanks, Gordon. (Crecerelle)

re the power kites, always fancied the idea of an 8.5 mtr C Quad over the quarter in a force 3/4. Once towed a saab car along Elvington runway at 20mph with much the same so plenty of go............

Well, who needs a spinnaker then? You could be on to something here....

Learning on a dinghy first is always a good idea, but the kestrel probably has a fairly light spinnaker pole. Try rigging a bridle so you attach the stern to a swinging mooring( dificult in a tidal situation-might work if the wind is with tide, or wait till slack) and then practise, preferably with someone who knows what they are doing. Most sailing books have a chapter on spinnakers and there have been numerous articles in the sailing mags. Rigging the spinny correctly is half the secret --everything goes around the outside, and packing the kite so it isn't twisted is also important. It 's fabulous when you get it right!
