I've never seen or heard anything like this! Thoughts?

Parasailor is just a fancy spinnaker. Not that I'm denouncing them....far from it. I used one on a yacht I was delivering from The Azores to Atlantic France. Was very impressed.

However, for parachute, I think it's more 'kite' like Skysail. Doesn't seem to have.....taken off :D :D :D as an idea for maritime trucks. Or yachts....

I had seen this; I follow these two as they are old school friends of my younger daughter. They are both really lovely people, and Alex (the girl) has a truly beautiful singing voice.

I can’t really see a round sail like that being a properly useful piece of kit, because of the lack of stability, but I do think a large kite surfing type kite could be made to work quite well, and could be a useful form of propulsion following a dismasting….

There have been several trials of these for big commercial ships. I think it was SkySails that had a version up and running on a bulk ship to help reduce fuel burn using wind assist, although they company seem to be focused on power generation now. The ones I've seen have used more modern shaped wings than the old fashioned parachute seen here.

Seem like charming people but some risks being taken here possibly? Who was on watch when both were down below?

Ais is only an aid, not a replacement for watch keeping.

Maybe there were additional crew off camera so my concerns are not valid.

They were three on board.
