Hi all,

Another question for the collective YBW forums ...

4x4 Winch rope - It seems you can get 30m of 8mm Sk75 Dyneema for allot less than Marine suppliers.

Anyone tried this?

Any gotchas?

It works fine, except some of the colors/dyes are not as "permanent" and may rub off.

Big fan of your site/boat BTW. Been reading loads.

Your comments on Spectra lines being low friction started me on this idea.

Did you reply to my post from anywhere exotic?

I am not 100% sure of the natural color, but think the heat set stuff is naturally grey and the unheat set is white. But both the grey and white seem decently color fast. I would just stay away from stuff like yellow and blue if color rub off is a concern.

I was up in Greenland this summer, but just got back "home", so no, unfortunately not exotic at the moment (Chesapeake bay).

Q: How would I know it is head set? SK75/SK78?

Ahhh. And he was me thinking you'd replied to one of my threads from somewhere interesting... :-)
