Uses for old sails?

There was a thread here some time ago by a sailmaker trying to come up with a scheme for recycling sails
Seems the problem of disposal is a real one as lots of people have Knackered old sails hanging about ( and not just from their masts)

There is, or was, a company in St Malo that used to recycle old sails into very snazzy bags, little backpacks and so on. Called 'voiles-au-vent'!

Do not suggest westaways - exchange sails. I am currently off to court following wrong size sail they supplied and took back, apologised but are not refunding money despite promises to do so. Grrrrr

I suspect they may have been inundated with offers, as I can't find details on their website of how to donate sails to them any more. If nothing else you may get some inspiration as to what to do with yours if you're handy with a sewing machine.

That's sad to hear.

I had problems with them some years ago.

Seems like this leopard cannot change its spots.
