Hi all
thanks for the avalanch of help .I tried various ideas as suggested but nothing seem to work until I opened PBO with internet internet explorer then still did not work .I then clicked on the url link in Denbighs post and IE asked me if i wanted to allow pop-ups from YBW site , i allowed pop-ups and hey -presto there it was!!!At last I could put a bit of info about myself .Many thanks for all your help , as I said i am still learning but I am highly delighted .Thanks again .

Glad to hear you managed to get in, but... I don't see why pop-ups would have caused a problem. I have a pop-up blocker in operation, but don't get any issues going to user options. What browser are you using? and what pop-up blocker?

pop up because the link would cause another browser session to open (depending on settings of browser). Shouldn't affect opening user options page directly

LS: let's face it, we are all trying to help. Which is good. The number of times I have had to hack my way out of some mystery... although a defender of XP, cos of it' s tremendous power, sometimes that power can be overwhelming due to some unforseen consequence of one's own actions, or even default actions.

(( My worst fun was when I used Regedit to change the ownership of everything to ME, since some program said I didnt have the rights to delete it or something. The result was, the computer couldnt boot, as it had no right to access the registry... all part of life's rich pattern ))
