I wonder if anyone can help me with any company or individual for that matter who can source (or source and fit) a diesel engine (except a perkins) 120 to 180hp gearbox, loom, control and gauges (ie, the whole shooting match) for a shaft driven Birchwood 25 (semi displacment). I would like to obtain a larger engine, but although Lancing were (as usual) extremely helpful, they appeared only to want to talk about new engines. The chap from Clarendene was able to supply a second hand unit but it had no controls or gauges (and was only £1000 less than a new engine from Lancing). I am happy to spend a few grand but I'm not prepared to pay off Liberia's national debt doing so. Thank you for your time

Can't you find someone, ie mechanic to help you with this. I don't know what unit you are looking for, but I just bought a reconditioned Ford 1.8 60HP XLD Diesel for £180. Cost to marinise should be around £600-£800 and when the guy was taking it out of the rolled Escort van it was in, I asked him to make sure he got the looms all the way back to the fuse box, which he did.
