US Road Trailer Question.

Hi Al,

I got a US Trailer converted to "Irish" specs by a local company that builds trailers to order.

The Hitch, the axles, brakes etc were all replaced and I converted from single axle to double axle. The resulting trailer is narrower than with the american axles/wheels and if I have a puncture I still have three other wheels to keep me going to safety at the side of the road.

It cost me about 50% of the cost of a brand new trailer .... you pays your money, you takes your chances.

Currently it's sitting on my driveway with the boat snuggled down on it for the winter! Come the spring I'll get the boatyard to lift it, antifoul it and launch it - keeping my nice new bearings/brakes well away from the salt water. If I make it up to the River Shannon I'll launch it myself but until then I'll get the boatyard to use their lift.

J.
