US Bargain?

Doubt you could call it a bargain with those 20 yr old twin 5.7's

I would tend to call it a moneypit!

Of course thats just my opinion having had past experience of an 18yr old 5.7 merc in my first Bayliner. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Hi C_Playa

When you import boats from outside of Europe they must be CE marked. A boat of this age, with original engines, can not be CE marked due to the much tougher emission regulation now in force.

As a rough guide, if it is 10 years old or less then it can most likely be CE marked.

The only other way is to re-engine it, then it's not such a bargain.

Cheers

Thanks BC... I just came across "Celebrity" boats by accident on a used helicopter site of all places. There was a nice little 23 cuddy there so looked a bit further. Was surprised to see a 30' boat asking such little money, prolly very negotiable too. But you're right, not of so much interest to a UK forum.

Regarding the 23 cuddy... it was the window by the entrance that charmed me. Converts a cave into something approaching a little cafe:

Hi C_Playa, I fly a Robo R22, what was the Heli site?

Celebs can be picked up so cheap in America, but being honest, the way to get a bargain out there is to buy very young. For example their are loads of dealers with 2008 new unsold inventory that they are desperate to shift because they are commited to taking 09 boats, that they are taking stupid offers on. Pound to Dollar rate not so good now but expect that to change when the Euro crashes in the next month or so, (jusy my opinion before you all shoot me down!!)

CE marking on the young boats is easy. Alternatively 2005 or youger cruisers have the biggest difference in price between Europe and America.
