You couldn't make this up.... went to drail oil this morning and the extractor tube broke in the dipstick tube (about half way).

Obviously I didn't push it down any further.

I see the top of the dip-stick tube is held with a nut, not too hard to access.

How is it attached to the sump? It appears to be a round connector (was expecting to be able to get a spanner to it.

Also, i've extracted approx 2 litres... is oil going to come pumping out when I eventually release the tube?

Any advice much appreciated, i'm on a temp berth so need to get this sorted ASAP.

You could try making a seal at the top of the dipstick tube and connect up the extractor again to remove the rest of the oil, might be enough to force the remains of the extractor tube to the top of the dipstick tube.

On my KAD42 which appears to have the same setup according to the part diagrams the dipstick tube is bolted to the heat exchanger bracket at top but the bottom is a push fit around a o-ring. i.e. a little wiggle and the whole thing comes out. I only discovered this on removing the heat exchanger etc so not sure if you have enough access with the peripherals to the the short block on to remove/refit. But I'm sure it can be done.
