What about River Canal Rescue on 0871 200 8021? Never had to use them myself and cannot give any more info. Hope you get sorted out soon.

You dont tell us anything about boat/engine(s) battery etc but can you not get to a garage and pick up a battery - maybe even get them to deliver one to you or perhaps a jump lead rig? Approach as many other boaters as you can - someone should be able to help.

We did end up getting a jump start, with great relief we co
pleted our journey without problem. My camping fridge was the fault - lesson learnt. Thanks for the tips, river rescue was my next throw of the dice, I didn't know they existed.

Having done this ourself and ended up with flat batteries we bought a booster (jump start) pack for around £30. Its small enough to keep in a locker and has ciome in handy so many times for jump starting various boats. Well worth the money.

Camping fridges by the way can be very heavy on battery power. You may be better of getting a lower consumption one. They can be quite pricey but use very little power (if you buy the right sort), failing that turn the fridge off at night, but you will end up with warm beer!!!!

Camping fridge run off a ciggy lighter socket and Peltier effect? They can be murderous on batteries, much to be said for an ignition relay to sut it off if the engine is not running. If cost/space are an issue for a low current fridge and gas is not an option then an alternative is buying a bag of ice cubes as required. It will keep the thing cold enough to chill beer/white wine and keep the milk fresh and butter from running away while you are stationary, within reason. You have ice for dirnks for a while as well. We used to empty the bag of ice into an old lidded tub to keep the meltwater under control.
