The boat goes in the water in a fortnight. That means if I want to paint the topsides, it's got to happen next week, anyday from monday to friday. The paint then has to harden for a week before she can go in her slings.

I'm planning on using International Perfection 709. Everybody is telling me that it can't be done: to cold, to humid, and warning me that the paint will turn milky/cloudy.

Has anyone actually had this happen to his/her paintjob ? Is there a way to avoid it ? Seall of the boat under plastic with a heater ?

Monday : 11.8°C, 79% humidity
Tuesday: 9.9°C, 90% humidity
Wednesday: no data available as yet.

Go for it, or abort ?

I thought there was a high developing over Eastern UK (and presumably Holland) at the weekend, so you should be in luck.

If the weather continues to conspire, I think there are only two choices: Keep the date-in date, and delay the painting till next year, or delay the lift-in date. It would be bad news to spend all that time and money repainting, and then not have it look good.

G’day Henk.
You can enclose the boat and control the climate, but this is expensive and time consuming, heaters and de-humidifiers, floor covering required on some surfaces to control / reduce moisture. Blushing or the milky look is cased by moisture or sudden drop in temperature, this can be a change in hull temperature when the sun (if you have any) goes down. Have a real long look at the technical information and safety data sheet for your paint and consider possible losses.
Sorry if this casts a shadow on your plans but removing the defective finish is harder than old paint as it has not gone off and sand paper clogs, it’s a mongrel of a job and should be avoided if at all possible.
