Upper Orwell Crossings Ipswich

I've bumped this as on Thursday, there is a meeting of the Upper Orwell Crossing Navigation Working Group. I've been asked to attend on behalf of the RYA, as I'm the local 'Cruising' representative of the RYA Eastern Region Committee and am one of the two Eastern Region Representatives on the RYA National Planning, Environment and Coastal Navigation Support Network.

I knew you'd be impressed.......! but I'm afraid all of us on these RYA Committees are purely voluntary, honorary officials, giving up our own free time to do it. There are no Company Cars, Expense Accounts or Pension Plans, well not for us, anyway.

The Crossings Navigation Working Group has some fairly serious invitees, representing Ipswich Port, the two marinas, sailing barge owners, local historical interests, the Sea Cadets, Sea Scouts, Spirit Yachts, and so on, as well as the RYA.

I post this simply so that everyone can see that 'Navigation issues' are being considered and represented as regards the 'bridge projects'. I'll update further on here once I am in a position to do so.

Although I'm based in Mersea I know the Orwell and Ipswich well and my yacht 'Winter's Bride' is a very frequent visitor to the Ipswich Haven Marina.

More news in due course.

This is also what I do and so far it has cost me £20K and SCC is now seeking to bankrupt me over £12K court costs. I have not been told anything about this meeting and yet I probably know more about the subject than anyone else.
