Some may recall an episode where piles were driven and a residential barge moored on the foreshore at Upnor near Upnor SC and MYC.
All carried out without permission, the resulting court case followed by a public enquiry resulted in the company concerned being instructed to remove not only the houseboat and piles but all the other work undertaken at the time.
The lighter was eventually towed away, to nearbye location but the piles and other works was never removed, even though the generous amount of time given to do so passed.
The company (with a slightly different name ) is now back again with a retrospective request for virtually the same plan , abet a couple of very minor modifications.
Does the council have sufficent funds or even the will to ensure that the verdict. of the previous public enquiry is up held ?
For those interested .

Objections were lodged prior to the cut off date.
It was assumed that the Public Enquiry and with the failure of the appellants appeal, that the judgement handed down would have been the end of the matter.
The company behind this scheme is a bit of mystery , any ability to fund and lose an appeal with a KC and her team and then come back for a second bite suggests very deep pockets indeed.

"The text from Medway Council as reported by the appellants as not unduly negative........ worrying"

Would doubt that any communication from Medway would indicate anything of than a strictly impartial tone and with the number of objections already logged might suggest otherwise.
At the inquiry, KC of the shed-onna -lighter owner argued that the previous administrations woeful failure to formulate a housing plan for the area , meant that marine residential moorings should have been provided, that the council had failed in its duty to do so and therefore this development should be permitted.

The judge basically said , nice try but please return the site to its original condition at your own expence.
Still waiting for the piles to be drawn by the company that installed them and for the staging to be removed as per the judgement.
