Been looking through the old posts, but can't find anything on this. Is it feasible? I can see from the Garmin website how to connect a PC and GPS through the serial port, but then I guess I need some software to enter the data and upload? Does this exist / actually work? Thanks for any advice.

It's not complicated, but you will need a 12 volt power adaptor to connect your 128 as well as the leads to connect to the serial port. I have a 128 and used Easy GPS to upload and download data. It is very quick and easy and as Jimdew has already said - IT'S FREE! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks Solitaire, that looks like what I want. Do I really need another cable? Can't I just wire a serial connector to the data in / data out wires in the existing cable on the boat? Data out is wired to the VHF/DSC at present, but I could tap-in to this or install an in-line mini-DIN for example so I could connect to either radio or PC? Then I'd need power though wouldn't I?

Various ...

Best archiver and sorter for Waypoints is G7towin ..... written really for garmins ..... it allows you to play with your waypoints in text format .... similar to a excel table. Uploads / downloads etc.

Its better than EasyGPS in my view and also free. It integrates with Seaclear GPS charting program also.

Tapping into GPS cable to VHF should work as long as you get your pins etc. right. Its normally posible to data to up to 4 items from a GPS before needing a booster.
