This is my saloon in the pic below. I got a quote to reupholster it. 4 base cushions and 4 back ones. They quotes around £450 to do it plus about £150-£200 in fabric.

Is £600 good value? Seems like quite a lot given they'd be reusing the foam and copying hat is already there rather than visiting the boat and measuring.

I'm getting about 50% more done, but including new foam on 80% of them for £1200. The foam costs more than the fabric btw, so I think your price is a little on the high side. Get two quotes to compare ?

I have a local chap who would do it for less but I think the quote is ok.
If the company is well respected or recommended it is certainly worth considering. Particularly if they are convenient and can be trusted to work on time.

For the complete set of berths (13 cushions of varying sizes) in my 32ft Fulmar using new foam, it cost me just under £800. The foam and making up was just under £600. I did have to supply the fabric, with marine suppliers quoting from £20 per metre, but found a part roll on eBay for about 20% of their price. Also in the price I purchased button blanks for the job, but making and fixing them myself.

You could try a caravan upholster as they are usually a lot cheaper than many places. There must be several near you.

Blimey, That was a good price, I paid £1200 for an entire set of upholstery for my Fulmar 12 years ago from Comfort Afloat in Gosport. Mind you it was a superb job, they had the sizes on file therefore didn't need to visit the boat, which would have been a problem as it was in Ipswich. Ten years later it still looked great and really helped to sell the boat.

Onia, that was done last year. Most marine upholstery companies were quoting from £2,500. The material I bought on eBay was an exact match to one quoted at £2,500. So yes I did get a good deal.

The OP should certainly ask around his area and will certainly find someone who can do it a lot cheaper than he has been quoted.

Hi
I bought a sewing machine on t'bay for £15 + £10 postage.
Material £80.00
Thread, zips etc £15
Google how to make boat cushions.
Spend a couple of weekends sewing
Job done

( just my humble opinion!, although my boat is not as posh as yours! )

Having just completed this job on our boat I would say that the price you have been quoted is very fair. There is a great deal of skill in making a good fit. Particularly where the cushions have to curve around the backrest.
