Try MARTEC on Canvey sorry I have not got the number. I have used them for sail covers and a sprayhood recover job. They did a good job at a reasonable price and I am sure they do upholstary recovering.

this may sound a bid crazy, but I used the correctional system. most prisons have upholstery shops. they are learning classes so imates have a career when they get out. they are taught by trained upholsterers. the work is great! they will replace any rotted wood, and you mainly just pay for product. the prisons in my area, (New Jersey) pay the imates $3.00 a day. I saved thousands $. If they screw up, they start over, no corners cut!

Has nothing to do with slaves! It has to do with saving money. Maybe you are a rich man, but most of us try to save a pound here and there! By all means if you want to spend big bucks for the same job that can be done cheaper and just as good, DO IT!
 
Cost is irrelevant in this case. People should not be in prison to do your bidding nor should the prison service undercut ordinary artisans because they have a captive workforce. You may be ruled by money alone in America but rest assured to most Englishmen it would stink.
 
Last time I will defend this statement I made. I'm not getting into a pissing match with you over this. First of all the men are in jail. Instead of them just sitting around thinking about getting out and doing something illegal, and landing up back inside. they are learning a trade so they can come back into the world and make an honest buck! In regards to you second statement, as I said before no one is forcing you to use the imates to do your work. I don't know about your customs, but here is America, it is called freedom! I'm sure you have the same over there. In ending, if it doesn't feel right for you, don't take advantage of it! Go the more expensive route!
