I have Merry Fisher 805 fitted with a Raymarine C70 and a JCR Radar1000 MK11 I have been thinking of upgrading and getting one unit for both applications is it worth the expense? I am new to boating so I could do with some advise.

If you have some spare cash and enjoy new stuff, then go ahead. On the other hand if what's there still works, why bother? There's always something else to spend your dosh on!

It may be more than you're looking to spend, but there are some very good deals around at the moment on the E90W (£1,000 inc VAT and postage). You'll pay about the same again for a digital radome though.

If what you have works, then don't try to fix it. All that will happen is entry into a world of confusion and anxiety.

I have upgraded my MF805 with a Garmin 750s and 18HD radar. I kept the Raymarine C70 installed as a back-up, although I had to shift it over a bit to get the new Garmin to fit on the dashboard. Boat is for sale at the moment as we are thinking about something bigger. PM me for some pics to see how the Garmin looks alongside the C70.
