Upgrading frtom a 23\' to a 27/29\' yacht - which one?

I identified my first yacht as one that's easy to sail; a large cockpit for 4 adults; no back-stay so I can fish off it; a swim ladder; shallow draft for running up on sandbanks. I bought a (USA) Hunter Legend 23.5. A great choice but this now too small. I want -ditto- but perhaps a fixed keel (no moving parts- perhaps a wing?); a proper heads to permit entertaining business clients in comfort and dignity; recent build and modern design. Sleeping on board will not be required but some single handed sailing will need most bits of string leading back to the cockpit. Any ideas welcomed ....Spring 25 comes to mind, Sadler 29 probably too expensive. I'll keep you advised of outcomes but advice welcomed. COLIN.

have a look at Seamaster 925 or the later 29. They are less well known than Moody 29, Sadler 29 or Westerly Konsort and hence somewhat cheaper but at least as well built as these. Holman&Pye design gives good sailing performance and good seakeeping. A good 1980 Seamaster 29 should go for about £20k.

Gib'sea 84 bilge keeler. With twin lowers set the backstay so it can be removed on a pelican clip and that sorts your fishing. Had our family of four onboard for 10 weeks away one summer.

Fast as a Contessa 32 , built like a tank - I sailed through a force 11 in mine, easy peasy single

Good size cockpit can be helmed easily by the average five year old.

Cost about £23,000 FOR A GOOD ONE.

Leisure 29 or the shorter 27.

The 29 is better.
The inside layout is exactly the same the extra length is in the cockpit but makes it a better boat to sail. in either Fin or Bilge keels. should be able to pick up a good one for a lot less than £20K.

They also have a good web site and members association.

Have fun..... Peter

sadler 29 not as expensive as you think, brother in law got one for under 15k! and there isn't a lot wrong with it, baring high moisture readings, no blisters though. mine was under 20k and is in very nice order, needs a little work, but mainly cleaning.
