Upgrading from 10hp to 15hp.

Dear All,

/forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif I have a Mercury XR 10hp long shaft outboard. I have read on previous post that some of you have recommended making minor adjustments to the carbareter to increase the overall performance ie 10hp to 15 hp.

Does anybody know if this possible with this engine?

Step by step instructions would be greatly appreciated.

I have just upgraded a smaller engine (2 to 3.3 HP).

It required:

+Removing the restrictor plate between the carb and the inlet tube
+Changing the solid-state ignition unit, to give a more advanced spark
+New prop

Cost for this engine was about £40.
