Updating C-Map SD Cards?

It's probably me, but I can't work out how to update C-Map charts on an SD card.

I can find some web sites that try to explain but it proves confusing.

My card says: C-Map Max M-EW-M007.01 UK & Ireland

I can't find any such reference on the Jeppesen website and the description doesn't seem accurate as the charts also include the north coast of France and the CI's.

I was hoping for coverage of all of the UK and the west coast of Europe, though the web site suggests there is no pack that covers that area.

Ha, you look out straight at it, so you can see how impressively stiff it is.

The plotter is a Furuno, and pretty sure the card format is SD. I assumed you could send it back to Jeppesen or a dealer and they'd re-write the latest version over the top for a reduced price over buying a new one? See, I said I was confused.
 
A number of Chart Agents and electronics dealers are agents for C-Map (Jeppesen) and have the programmer in the shop to wipe and re-write chips with the latest version. You can also chop and change areas. Cheaper than buying new but not as cheap as you might like.

Contact Dave Freeman of Aztec Marine at Hamble Point. He has the software to do it, in fact took a client there the other day and he did it while we waited.

look at it alongside a PC/camera one and you will see its different.

Last time I updated mine they sent a new card and i returned the one - that was FoC too as I had been having some issues with the furuno PC plotter

Good idea, but we're off around the west country (weather permitting) during SIBS and most of the route will be new to me, hence thinking to have an updated plotter. Hope to get to SIBS on the last Friday.

I was told they change their reference numbers annually so you probably wouldnt find the code on the interweb anymore.

The same area should still be available but have a different reference number unless they have reduced the scope down so you have to buy another card!!!

Updating is the way to go but they have security built in which makes home updating virtually impossible....darn it :)
