Having just attached an AIS input to my A70 plotter I see that ideally I need to update the Raymarine application software. This looks to be a simple operation but I'd like to know if other OP's have done a similar operation and had no issues. My boat is in Greece so if I the unit gets trashed then I'd have a problem !

I don't have the A70 but have updated both my old R70 and my current e7. It didn't seem particularly difficult, though, for some reason I had trouble loading the stuff onto the chip, which my local agents sorted for me. The instructions seem clear enough.

You may lose data such as waypoints and settings, but on the e7 you can save them before updating.

No experience of the A70 but like johnalison I have an e7. Updated it today to the latest firmware and it was a breeze. Copied the update files to the microSD, put card in plotter, started plotter, it updated, then removed the card when told to do so. I had backed up my settings but no need, all the settings, routes, etc. were preserved through the update.

Ok thanks.
