I made a bid on the Targa 31 1993 of 55k but it was rejected made another of 58k also rejected, the boat is up for 67950 and they will take 64k for it, is this to much taking into account the background mentioned on the previous posts.she is in excellent condition having 460 hours on 200hp diesels, recently had ful service of engines and outdrives and antifoul has a new canopy ,a new 2.7m rib with 5hp outboard(1999)also benefits from espacher heating, would do you think?

More importantly surely is what do you think? If you like the boat and it does everything you want then offer the £64K. It's cheaper than other T31s on the market...

Compliments of the season

Sounds a nice boat to me. What it is worth to you is what you are prepared to pay for it.

Bear in mind though that in 1993 we were in the depths of recession and there weren't many new boats being sold so I would imagine you aren't going to find many others. Lots of circa 1988-90 Targa 33's asking about £65K (bigger boat and three cabin layout but dated now, square windscreens and flat transoms with bolt on platforms) and lots of Targa 28/29's circa 1996 onwards from I suppose £75K upwards, but not a lot in the middle ground.

Hope you manage to come to a deal though, you obviously like the boat to have persued it this far. Good luck and keep us posted!!

Ari.

Iain, firstly congrats on satisfying yourself that you could'nt get this boat at a low price. My first inclination would be to walk away from it given it's history and trust that other oppurtunities arise in January especially when a few dealers have part exchanges burning holes in their bank accounts after the Boat Show and when people with new boats arriving in Spring are getting jittery about selling their existing one.
In fact with the Boat Show only a few days away, I would definitely wait until you've been to the Show, talked to a load of dealers/brokers and checked out what else might be coming onto the market. Pound to a penny, the T31 is still unsold after the Show
However, on the other hand, if you really really want this boat and you're convinced that it's price is at the low end of the range for T31's, then why not up the offer to say £60kand hope you can settle at £61k or £62k? BTW a dinghy and heating would'nt excite me too much. A new RIB with 5hp motor is about £1500 or much less secondhand and practically every boat of this sort of value would have heating. I would be looking for expensive extras that you would'nt normally find on a boat like this such as good radar and plotter, a bowthruster, holding tank or even a gennie if you're really lucky
