OK, outdrive leg knackered. Bizzare, but cheaper to fit new leg AND new engine, than to just fit new leg. So, upgraded to GXi engine and DP leg for quite reasonable cost whilst about it. Full marks to Richard & Marine Engineering Looe, for coming out quickly, taking boat away, sorting it out & getting it back into water promptly (all in 3 weeks). Shame the weather was so foul on trial day, but decided to take it anyway & made good way back to Exe from Galmpton. Now have fishing line on the brain. Went out next weekend in glorious sunshine, with just about everyone who had something to float in or on, clogging up the fairway - most of 'em fishing. It's a nursury Bass area, but that doesn't seem to matter a damn. picked my way through & out to a wreck some way off Teignmouth - peace at last. Same story on way back, except that some fisher person lobbed a lead at me as I came into the Marina (sorry Docks), which bounced off the front topsides taking a slab of gelcoat with it (second time this has happened just off the Pierhead). Satisfying to see that Police (only specials) were kitting up the HMs Rib to go out on patrol, but talking to the locals in the Pub that night none of the poachers got any heat, just the pwcs. OK, I'm a bit testy about fishing line in the fairway but it is illegal from boats after all. Not to mention that when I see folks fishing for Mullet in the Marina (sorry Docks) it really gets on my tXXts.

Would recommend a 22 Air Rifle ( with scope ) for the douche bag that threw the lead. If its not too choppy you should be able to shoot off his ear lobe quite easily

If someone had hit my boat with a lump of lead I'd have parked up in the entrance and gone and had words with the idiot and probably be sorely tempted to acquaint the idiot with the same water he was fishing in. There are so many idiots who seem to think they have every right to fish in the entrance regardless of boat movements.

BTW wots wrong with fishing for mullet, I actually prefer them to bass.
