As an update to: http://www.ybw.com/forums/showthrea...Oil-Pump-(For-Outdrive)-With-Pics!&highlight=

I changed the gear-oil on my DP-G's today and I am delighted with my DIY pump, it works!!

No more pumping hundreds of times (the little pumps that you use for out-boards), no more transferring oil from jugs etc, no more mess!! I didn't spill a drop, managed the whole lot (2 outdrives) on one set of gloves!

TIP: It's winter, it's Ireland, it's cold! With cold, comes thick oil. So, I cut a 20l drum in half, filled with boiling water, put the pump in and left it for 10 mins.... it helped to make the oil more fluid, hence faster.

I also marked the 3.1l mark, so I fill to that amount and pump away. Once that is in, leave it 30 mins and check level - spot on!

PS. No comments on the anti-foul, please! I'm on fresh water so don't anti-foul. The boat spent 1 year on salt water before my ownership, hence the anti-foul. Not bad considering it hasn't been anti-fouled in about 8 years!

Good build and initiative
Where did you get the smaller pump from for the metal part?
Jon

what connector did you use for the hose to the OD ?

It's a plastic connector, not metal.

I had it lying about, it's a bog standard oil pump for outboards. This would do the trick, they're a universal size: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/QUICKSIL...MP-TO-FIT-QUART-1-LITRE-BOTTLES-/181424240207

The extra little stubby metal connector is not used, but don't throw it out.... that's for different sized fill holes for other outboards (Honda, I think)
