The Admiralty court is a constant wonder to me. Read the fight over the custody of this boat after SHE lost everything and HE wanted to keep what he thought was his. The court report starts ..

[ QUOTE ]
Miss Parrott was born on 8th November 1956. She is now 50. Mr Parkin was born on 6th April 1960. He is now 46. The parties met in the early 1980s, probably in late 1983. At the time, Mr Parkin was a pop musician and in a rock band. Miss Parrott joined the band as a keyboard player. The parties formed a relationship in 1984. They began living, with others, in a rented flat in Acton. At the time both were unemployed and on benefit. The couple subsequently moved to a flat in Ealing.

It left me with a tear in my eye.

Not sure how pleased I'd be with someone unnecessarily drawing attention to my personal problems in such a public manner and I'm not sure how pleased the owners of Up Yaws will be either - I shall have to ask them. You're not a tabloid journalist by any chance? /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

UpYaws is moored just down from me, I can not remember what type of boat it is /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif (I thought it was a Sealine?)

As always with break ups a messy business. I was so lucky that when I got Divorced we were broke and I managed to achieve a Financial Seperation.

It is an interesting read, and I judge neither partner

Cheers

The judgment is in the public domain, and anyone is entitled to quote from it, in whole or in part.

I found the posting to be of interest on a number of grounds: speculative curiosity about the complex and regrettable end of what appears to have been a reasonably successful relationship for several years, is NOT one of them.

The posting has advanced my understanding of several areas of English law.

As is every other judgement...if you want to enhance your knowledge of English law, skim through a set of Blackstones. In the meantime, as a divorcee myself, posting this was unnecessary, particularly as the judgement is so recent and may be a source of some personal pain to those involved. Public domain? That's what the gutter press always use as an excuse for exposing peoples live to public scrutiny. It may be in the public domain but the posting only found it's way onto the forum by virtue of Up Yaws being moored on the Thames and a desire to sticky beak - it certainly wasn't motivated by a desire to advance forumites knowledge of the law! 'Tear to the eye' - there's empathy for you! These are peoples lives, not some soap. I am assuming therefore that you'd be happy for someone with too much time on their hands to advertise the more stressful/painful aspects of your life? If you would be, then you're lying, if not, then what gives you the right to draw attention to others?

Lawyers /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif god help us, all that just to decide to split the proceeds of the sale 55/45, if there any proceeds left after their fee of course. Interesting reading though, past the boat a few times last year with its green skirt around the bottom, wondered why it had never moved.

Haven't followed the link but having been on the receiving end of abuse / discourteous behaviour and downright bloody mindedness from Up Yaws whilst on the Thames in the past, I'm more than glad we won't have to encounter that particular owner and his boat near any locks in future.

The boat was very aptly named considering the owners attitude.

Sorry to hear that, he's always been very pleasant towards me. Maybe he thought you were a lawyer? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
