I have a problem with my Flag Pole. One end of the cord is now at the top so I haven't got two ends to tie a flag between. Short of getting a huge ladder, a Cherry Picker, the Fire Brigade what do I do? Dismantling the Pole isn't an option. I could ask Chris Seeney to shin up there but now he's Commode of the Ditch it may be beneath his dignity.
Serious folks, any ideas?

Just taken a look at some photos I took at your place last year and looks as if it is completely free standing sunk into the ground. If that is the case you need to decide what priority to put huge ladder, cherry picker and fire brigade in. I would opt for cherry picker ! :D

borrow one of those little helichoppers, attach a chunk of velcro or afishing hook, and snare the loose end ? And get Dylan to post it on Youtube to make some money....

Seriously, a 'snaggy' rope, attached to a fishing line, then to the chopper ?

Those mini choppers are pretty light, it may not have enough weight/grunt to pull the rope through.
Best add another length of fishing line to retrieve the chopper when its also stuck up the pole ;)

Cherry picker will work out pricey for just that and delivery of them has got dearer as well due to fuel cost ,have to be a baby tracked one as I guess the ground down there is a bit waterlogged....any other jobs at height to be done whilst it is there to make it more cost affective??
What about a tower scaffold built up off Plywood sheet base after levelling???
UK platforms are who we hire our cherry pickers through and are generally cheapest....don't think you need a powered access licence if it`s for private work .
As above how tall is pole?? Steve

only 20ft ?

Hire a two storey aluminium scaffolding tower. Erect it round pole. Climb and retrieve.

Pics needed though !

Just a thought – why not put a slip knot in a fishing line to make a lasso around the base and tie one or two balloons to it. Watching the position juggle the balloon line to capture the rope end. Second thoughts – a step ladder with a pole and a slip knot noose might be easier.

It is a very tall flagpole ......

re-jig it with a tabernacle so the next time time happens you can lower the mast in a truly nautical way ? Useful for repainting as well as retrieving.

Ten years at least it's been up without a problem. It is plastic covered so never needs painting. It would be cheaper to order a new one and have it erected than re-jig this one.
