Universal Marina - Hamble bought by Premier Marinas

I guess many of us who have berthed present at past at Uni will find this a bit of a relief. at long last a bit of stability for what is actually a lovely marina. . The tenents must be sighing with relief and the berth holders holding out for a new beginning. I am an ex berth holder so know from first hand the challenges the previous owner placed on all of us. Too late for some such as Bisto 8 and WeSup . As they say, onward and upward

We’re in Swanwick and walk to universal sometimes for a coffee or an ice cream, it’s always felt a bit awkward there. Good news I think. We’re very happy with Premier. Hopefully this is a new beginning for the site, the berth holders and tenant businesses.

I stand to be corrected but this is how I heard it .
Pascoe international occupied the bulk of the sheds at Universal, they have been asked to seek alternative premises for fine time as there occupied space was in the way of development at the site . The agenda being that the then owner wanted to explore the possibility of building housing on the site making it less commercial.
Pascoe obviously jumped at the chance to buy Eastlands boatyard so that will eventually empty the site major sheds when the planning at Eastlands is passed and completed .
I did hear a whisper last time I was working there that there were to be some major changes.
I’m sure Premier will take on the site with enthusiasm and forward planning .
In my opinion there is nothing wrong with the way it was run , it’s never really been a visitors marina as it lacks any kind of atmosphere for meals, boat sales etc like for example the other Hamble marinas do .
I read on FB some very strange accusations about the Premier group way of running the company I just hope it’s just B/ SHT .
It’s a great site to develop whatever way it goes .

I rather like the fact that Premier Marinas is owned by Wellcome Trust. A nice direction to see the profits from your mooring fees heading.
