I voted 'naff' not specifically because it's a Union Jack but because I hate the twee mats people generally use. A plain coir mat without any witticisms or touchy feely nonsense or flags for that matter is quite sufficient.

Mats with the manufacturers name or better still the boats name would be good. A bit disrespectful to the flag so it’s naff for me

well... I voted nice. Got to take in context. Ben's boat is a 40yr+ old british classic. Not a plastic tub. sitting on a old teak cockpit floor in a Fairey Huntsman one of these doesn't offend me in the slightest.

Probably would offend on anything new.

personally I cant stand the Volvo Penta or Raymarine mats that peeps have obviously gained from a boat show or other.

Are those cushions from the Union in Cowes, James?

I reckon the floor mat is good so long as people wipe their feet respectfully.

It took me by surprise so I had so say something. It's not the sort of boat that I thought would take me but it did. As for thread drift and the mat. No. IMO, you have enough UJ's onboard already and more would detract from the elegance of the boat.

Mat is not for my boat.. but the OP's (BurgundyBen) who has a very fine and classic Fairey Huntsman

I am glad my boat took you by surprise.. I am very happy with her!

Seems disrespectful to a national flag to have as a doormat but feels ok as a cushion, curtain etc?

Union Jack coir floor mat for the boat? Nice or naff?

Nice if its a British built boat particularly if its a traditional British boat like Fairey or Firefly's rather lovely Mitchell. Naff if its a foreign built boat
