Uninsurable moorings

I happened to be one of the first boats at James Watt Dock Marina at Greenock. My insurers wouldn't give me their marina discount that year, because it wasn't (at the time) on their list. The marina owners sorted them out pretty quickly, and the amount wasn't actually very much.

As others have said, I'm sure it's about keeping the risks down to allow them to be at the low-cost end of the market. Arran makes sense in the light of that - there are no anchorages that are definitely secure in all wind directions (Lamlash being a possible exception).
