Anyone had underwater lights fitted. There's an article in this months MBY but I'm interested in any actual experience of fitting these. I think LED makes sense (low power long life) but are they bright enough? And is is true that blue attract the fish better than white?

Hello,
Well I fitted some and did some testing some for OCEANLED. They are amazingly bright...lot of fun, some say geeky nonsense, true if you think that way too. But being a gadget fan had to get some...The fishing thing is true they do attract fish, at night, so you'll need to night fish to get any chance of a success there...OceanLED were testing some strobing ones when I went then which apparently stimulate fish even more...

I have the Amphibian 6's. They are a breeze to install and very well made. Happy to answer any questions on them. One superb effect is the plume out of the back at night...if you turn them on it's amazing at speed! If you have the guts, and of course you are in the right area/weather etc etc..

Here are some pics for you..both whites and blues..

I tried both the 3 whites and the 6 blues. I did some research for them and didn't pay for the blues after that and they are super nice guys at OceanLED too...

...and the white 3's...

If I get em and buy you a meal will you come and fit em for me??? I wouldnt dare to drill holes!!! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Probably find Roger will want some too, he however does do wiring etc, and hence as usual would laugh at a tool like me even attempting to undertake the job!!! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Do you have a link Tony. Doesn't matter, i've found them.
I quite like them and quite fancy 2 blue ones myself.
How much are they bud?

Did you say a hole diameter of 3.5mm. How big are these lights then because thats very small isn't it.

Well cool! Love 'em!
I have seen some that you can fix to the trim tabs, ie surface (no pun intended) mount and no holes.
Mind you, here in the Bristol Channel you would create the effect of an old torch in a giant bowl of melted chocolate!

Ahhh, the good ol bristol channel. I spent my first 2years patroling those shores. Portishead to WSM /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Your quite right about the old torch in chocolate. They would be a complete waste of time i think with that brown water :-)
Such a shame the waters like it really, living in Cheltenham, its a 45 min drive,i used to go there after work, now its 2.5hours to Poole on a good day /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Poole is lovely though.
I like the fact that the boat is only 20 mins away.
Give me a call if you ever wander into Bristol.
Boat is in the City Docks, although we spend a fair bit of time in Portishead and Cardiff.
Meanwhile folks....... back to the post /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
