Has anybody any experience of fitting a slatting system under their Mattress, and if so what was the result.

Our double bed does not seem very comfortable, and we are looking for a little more comfort, but do not like memory foam at home so presuming it will be the same on the boat.

Any thoughts appreciated.

We purchased a slatting system from Ikea. It cost about £30 or so from memory.:) It was very simple to fit requiring only a couple of cuts.

We also replaced the mattress with a memory foam one at the same time so the fact that we have the most comfortable bed imaginable on our boat may be down to the mattress but the slats have stopped all condensation underneath as well.

At £30 it has got to be worth a try

Have to totally agree with maybh1's post. We've got a memory foam mattress which is oh so comfy....i get a better nights sleep on the boat than at home!

We put Ikea slats under it a couple of years ago to stop any condensation. Don't think it made any difference to the comfort but certainly stopped the damp!!!

Sweet dreams.

We have IKEA slats under all our bunks and they work well, no probs fitting them. I would like to get a memory foam mattress at a later date, seems almost impossible to find in Spain, do IKEA do them?

Another vote for IKEA. We did ours shortly after we took delv. and it changed the sleep 100% for the better. I recon I sleep better O/B now than at home - much better.

Recommended.

Just add an electric blanket switched to low an you will never want to leave your bed again - its the only place I sleep well:)

Slats etc

I had Victoria Stars from the Victoria Bedding co, and they are excellent. When sold boat and became professional crew I took them with me, and sucessfully had them under my crew bunk as well which was thinner mattress. Compass now sell a similar thing. I believe they are better than slats as slats only flex one way and Stars flex all ways. -- Hehe, having made the bosses bed up (slats under) on a regular basis I know mine was more comfy!

Do you have a link for them or for these items? They sound like they might work for us. Our main bed is such an irregular shape that slats never stay put so inter-locking stars may well be the way forward for us.
