unbreakable vacuum flask

You cannot mash a decent dish tea with water that's gone off the boil!

again I agree, it should be a rolling boil, but it's still better than letting it brew in the flask. You could always have a bovril or pot noodle as well.

Many thanks, will try a Stanley. I have tried the cheapo route, but got the tinny taste syndrome, plus the contents cooled too quick.

I had a swift look http://www.tesco.com/direct/search-results/results.page?catId=4294967294&searchquery=food+flask&SrchId=4294967294&_requestid=608543 and couldn't identify.

Could you perhaps be more specific, 'cos I'd go get a couple?

Sorry about that - I still frequently shop the old fashioned way - however they did have both the Thermos one and their own brand on display with about £1 difference between them but no perceivable difference in spec.
If you really need a photo, I'll unpack and send it to you by e-mail.
I wouldn't have considered it if I hadn't such good service out of the old one (which has exactly the same stopper), but only cost £4.99 on offer when I bought it.
Whilst I'd agree that many English tea blends taste quite different after being in a flask - I have to say I think they all taste pretty horrid. We're lucky in having a little local shop here called Aroma and I use nothing but leaf tea, Yunnan FOP, or Assam. Occasionally keemun based Earl Grey or Rose pouchong. The Yunnan does not deteriorate in the flask. They're also excellent coffee-blenders, doing their own roasting and blending on site.
Anyone interested in decent tea or coffee, PM me - I know they've posted to my friends all round the UK, in Switzerland and France.
Unashamed plug for one of the good things of life, produced by one of the small, non-market-hyped Engish shops which abound in our county towns and risk being swept off the map by "chains".

My Coleman stainless steel flask must be about 30 years old. It's been used and abused and still keeps the contents piping hot up to 8 hours.

+1 to that. Mine came with a lifetime guarantee. Cup got trashed falling off car, phone up for a price and was sent one F.O.C. good service.

Also got the insulated lunch box that goes with it.

I avoid ones with complicated tops, preferring a simple bung and ideally two cups but haven't found a metal flask with 2 cups yet.
