I have a 28hp Beta engine with a Johnson F4 water pump. I am looking to get a replacement impeller kit.

The Johnson impeller part number is 09-810B-1.

I've looked at several reputable mainstream marine suppliers including Beta Marine, asap-supplies.com ; boatpartsandspares.co.uk and all seem to be selling impellers 'suitable for' my raw water pump rather that the actual Johnson one. Does anyone have experience of these alternative 'suitable' replacements?

Last year I fitted a new impellor to my Beta 25 prior to a trip to Holland. It must have lasted only about 25hrs before it packed up, noticed when the engine alarm went off as we approached Bruinesse lock. Had to drop the anchor quickly and fit a new impellor, bought from memory from ASAP. The failed impellor, all the vanes had badly split at the root, but none broken off completely and I noticed that it was made from a shiny material. I bought a new Jabsco from Bruinesse chandler. I investigated more when back home and found that Neoprene are better than Nitrile for sea waterpump. I've assumed that the failed impellor was Nitrile rather than Neoprene but not sure. I have since bought a nitrile from China which was about half the the price of Jabsco/Johnson. It looks identical to the Jabsco, a dull rubber not shiny. What are forumites experience of Nitrile v Neoprene?

That's an original Johnson. I'm asking about 'unbranded' replacements
You said you'd looked at ASAP Supplies but "all seem to be selling impellers 'suitable for' my raw water pump rather that the actual Johnson one" and wanted to know whether the "suitable" ones were any good. I've shown you the proper Johnson one from ASAP so you don't even need to think about whether it's any good .... and I've been given the bum's rush.

Go figure.
