Un-stop-able pop up Aldi ad

I had the same. Top right corner of fire fox is a menu button, open and go to add ons. Download Adblockerplus and that should fix it.

I try not to routinely use ad-blockers because if everyone did it sites would lose their funding stream. That Aldi advert, though, was so persistent and annoying that I have now activated adblocker again, so whoever authorised that ad has done themselves no favours.

I've used the Aldi contact form: It's their ad so it seems to make sense to tell them!

See the link below. Your pop-up ads are causing a problem on the Yachting and Boating forums with several threads on this issue. So intrusive! It's been going on for weeks and the website technicians don't seem to be able to fix it. Perhaps you can get your advertising/marketing team to contact them and discuss?

Also try 'Ghostery' which is currently showing (and blocking) four companies tracking what we read on this site. On some sites it can be many more.

Priv Dog blocks trackers as well. Blocking 3 on this page.

There is no need to suffer these annoyances. It's up to the marketing depts at the forum providers to get the balance right. It's not our moral duty to put up with intrusive advertising.

Their reply: can someone do a screen print and send it to them? Not me; I've not seen it

Dear Mr Clayton

Thank you for contacting Aldi Customer Service.

We are not aware of any pop up adverts that would appear on any websites.

To help us identify if this is a real advert from Aldi, or a spam message, please can you send us a screen print of the advert in question and we will check the details further with our marketing team and advise further.

Kind regards

I use Firefox too and whilst Aldi ad has not been problem, for some time the screen has been jumping around as the ads load - makes it very distracting when trying to read anything. I tried the adblocker lite fix and whilst the ads disappeared, so did the headers such as PBO reader to reader/Scuttlebut/Lounge etc. Result was I could not get onto the forums and have had to disable adblocker lite. Would anyone have any suggestions of what might be going wrong for me?

I complained about this twice before, Richard said he would look into it & I guess he did as there was a short hiatus before it set off again. I too have now been forced into adblocking that does slow the computer down a bit. But that is less intrusive & annoying than the Aldi ad was.

  • Adblocker Lite. 2 stars. 30,000 users
  • Adblock Plus. 5 stars 21,000,000 users

When recommending addons, please get the name right!

Firefox gives you the option to block pop-up windows.
Tools - Options - Content, then tick the box.
I don't see any pop up ads on this site and I have no add blocker running.
NEVER install any extra toolbars, they seem to cause loads of problems like this for my daughter who insists on having them because "all her friends have them"!
