We'll recheck the power issue. I have a USB current meter which may be useful.
Just tried a Pi3B+ on a CV/CC dc buck power supply, wouldn't boot with less than 750mA. Though the voltage might well fall off much quicker at the set current than a wall wart and a wall wart voltage might well start to tail off long before the rated output so might not mean that much really.
As this stuff is so much fun with a few minutes on google seems that it's possible to measure current and write to an influxdb database up to a few KHz so that might be interesting
This was measuring at 10Hz on the 12v side of a DC power supply (actually from a hifiberry amp which powers the Pi), without averaging the current draw was just a mess of lines it spiked that much>
