Something not mentioned do far is that Part 1 allows shares in 64 this between people and registered businessesHello All, under UK flag, are there any significant benefits/s of registering under Part 1 vs SSR? I am about to register a used vessel and will be cruising mainly in the Med then maybe Carribean in 2020.
Thanks
Cleary he does not need registration of title which is the main difference. Also if the boat never leaves UK waters there is no legal requirement to register at all. for most the sole reason for registration is comply with international law when sailing out of UK territorial waters and the SSR provides that. The SSR does allow the registration of multiple owners mainly to make it easier for each of the owners to visit other countries, but other than that such registration has no legal meaning.I was just looking for some info because I saw a a multi £100,000 yacht on SSR and asked the owner why not Part 1. He said somewhat dismissively. That SSR was all he needed
I thought that many such vessels were company owned , for tax etc, and certainly might be so in the future.
On the basis that he commissioned her then the measurement should have been included
My 11.9m boat is on Part 1 for such reasons
