I see and hear very good things about the gobbi atlantis, launched last week 42, 47 and soon 52 foot open sportsboats very nice and not very expensive. Sell Fairline shares asap? We'll see. Be very careful about buying now-quite-expensive new or near-new uk-built open sportsboats 40-50 feet. Sorry. Are Gobbi at SBS?

Eat your heart out MBY.

I conned my way out for a sea trial on the 42 in Cannes yesterday morning, just after 'Nneptune' had done theirs. What a boat ! As long as you can live with the unconventional seating lAYOUT, IT'S BRILLIANT.

I'm afraid the Targa 43 and V42 have some serious competition eeven if it's z-drives. Also going to get a ride on the 47 at Genova which is on shafts. Also price and options are great.

And that should give the Portofino something to worry about too.

Atlantis

Ver interesting how Azimut are clearly tring to build the @Atlantis' brand and downgrade Gobbi.

Also no need to sell fairline shares yet. Allegedly 1 42 and 1 47 for each Gobbi dealer in 2003....

Re: Atlantis

Well would you want to tell yer mates down the pub that you owned a Gobbi. I guess that's one good reason to change to Atlantis
So wot's so good about the Atlantis, particularly the 42 and what sort of dosh are they asking. I'm interested in this size/type of boat at the moment
Is there a website?

Re: Atlantis

First of all its looks . inside and out it's an absolute stunner. Quality, it's finish and quality of work is stunning at least on this first one. It was next to a 425sc and opposite the Cranchis and it looked a different class altogether.

in the sea. It's as neat and untroubled asan Endurance 39 and I also thought remarkably quiet. Acceleration/deceleration smooth as you like! We also got it up to 34 knots easily...that was 6 up.

Everything availavle as an extra. The closest boat to it as probably the Targa 43 or mabe Camargue 44. BUT it's living accomodation was /appeared more and they cleverly manipulate a second/en-suite shower out of that space ( at athe cost of a bench seat upstairs.

The class of finish downstairs is just incredible. Beautiful. This one still hadsaw dust in some drawers etc.

Electric seat, sunpad conversion is brilliant.

issues..? Port side rear access only

Cost ? from memory...€324000 ex-tax ( have to confirm tomorrow plus price of 47), but a very well-equipped boat. Also extras cheaper than equivalent British boats.

TCM, this boat, the 42 Atlantis, is £213,000 + VAT fully loaded, air-con, tender, gennie, Bow prop, Extra lux interior, grill, TV, covers, everything. That's the base price of the lowest engined Princess or Fairline.

Gobbi were at SBS, with 425 only tho. Sold their first Atlantis, won't have another till next year.

Heard any more yet? How well put together? Got to be a bargain.

The Atlantis 42 reasonably spec'd inn the UK costs about £300k, you can see one at the SBS. What would the residuals be like on these?

Absolutely no idea. the general rule oft quoted here is c. 15% in yr 1 and 5% pa for next 5 yrs thereafter. However general rule looks very inconsistent to me across marques.
i guess a good guideline might be rates of depreciation for Azimuts in UK , given that they are now from the same stable.

I've only seen 1 42 and 1 47 in private ownership yet , let alone having seen 1 for sale. Absolutely stunning boat in terms of looks and fitout but very much designed for the Med.

Not at least, although some on this board would suggest that any open-style cruiser ( sometimes known as Med boats ) are less suitable for the UK, and this boat is now competing with so-called 'hard-tops' which provide some relief from UK coastal downpours. Otherwise no reason at all..., I was lucky enough to get a test on a 42 last year (this post originally). Stunning ride even on a very windy day ( in my limited experience ). Gorgeous fit out.

Go and look at it is best -- but Euro appears to have made it more expensive than I recall last year, so 'less value'.
