Tyre pressure on a trailer?

Thanks all, a lot of really useful info and reading there.
I checked the tyres after 30 mins and they were hot, I put the pressure up to 44psi, the max limit for the tyre. There was still a slight bulge on outside bottom, but a lot better. (they started at 31 psi)
I checked the tyres and bearings every time I stopped, tyres were quite warm, bt not too hot and bearings stayed very cool.

All good, 11 hours driving yesterday to cover 350 miles, including stops. Boat is now in the water.

Incidentally, its a 2wheel trailer, and the tires say max weight is 440kg!!! so doubt it can be the original trailer, unless the tyres are just new cheap ones? It started to snake if I ever went over 55 mph, which was quite nerve wracking.

Snaking can be caused by tyres that are not firm enough. I had a trailer sailer that was total PITA at any decent speed, although the tyres were within their load capacity, and inflated to the maximum pressure. It would go all over the place at anything above 45 - 50.

The problem turned out to be the tyres fitted were 4ply rating. Although they were within the load rating, the garage recommended fitting 6 ply tyres which have stiffer sidewalls. Problem solved. Later I had a caravan which did exactly the same - 'orrid over around 45 - 50. Uprated 6 ply tyres tamed it completely.
