I'll be back home by monday. So I don't care, and yes it will be raining!
Listened to the shipping thing this morning, its going to be blustery with the occasional 7 thrown in for good measure. Winds all over the place as well, should make it interesting

Sit on board with a cuppa Bovril or OXO and doze off listening to the rain.... all part of the joys of boating.

Byron, I would do but the sound of cows crap splatting on the ground is not the same magical noise as water lapping at the hull!

Sandra, no that was for today.

very very wetro

Hi Barry
you should be here in Swansea !!!! torrential sheet rain, basically hasn't stopped raining all week, flooding roads etc etc,
hope everyone in the Marina go and check their boat covers as some of them are getting rather full and starting to sag !!!

<hr width=100% size=1>man made it ,man can repair it, i think??

Depends on the wind. If its got any east in it, anchor up at pottery pier end of the island. If the wind is from the west then I'd look at Shipstal by the Arne nature reserve. If its really blowy and uncomfortable I'd run up the river to Redcliffe yacht club who have visitors moorings.

My favorite is on the south side of the Island. Screens Poole town from view and is magical after dark with the peacocks calling each other. Don't go in too close though or you'll end up drying. Also have a look round South Deep. Theres some houseboats there. A lot of the locals seem to anchor in that area.

Re: very very wetro

Hardly rained here all week and I was woken by the sun this morning. So we've had summer then have we. I was working those two weeks and the week ends.

Looks like showers & F3 east tomorrow, Sunday is looking a bit better with wind round to SW. But downhill again on Monday I'm afraid.

Pity you're not down at the weekend, Adrian, Swanage carnival on Saturday, with fireworks in the evening, really spectacular in Swanage with the echos round the bay. If all goes to plan, should be there with Duncan (and Barry?).

Silly me offered to organise a "walk and picnic" for our Village on Sunday - only a couple of miles walk to the Avon and a friend owns a field on the bank. So we are all going to spend an hour or two relaxing......

otherwise I would be on my way NOW !!!!

Well if I do get my backside out of this chair and come, it will probably be later on today. We were sposed to be going, just me and the other half, as its our wedding yearly thing. And I didn't want to trudge round shops with her so I hitched up the boat and forgot to tell her!! Beats staying in hotels with four poster beds, room service, beer on tap, food on tap.............I might rethink this as it goes.

A soggy weekend away on the boat for wedding anniversary, sounds like grounds for divorce to me.

Well, she's put up with 10 years of it. I can't see another one making much difference. No tell a lie. I wasn't allowed to use the boat on the honeymoon.

Sounds like you might have a good 'un! But don't tell her.

I had an ultimatum, 'It's that bl**dy boat or me'. No contest really, I've still got the boat!

Dito - no boats on honeymoon (although am sneeking in a day trip).

10 year milestone - has to be hotel. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

Ah heck Barry yr in the wrong country! Here in Switzerland we have had the hottest summer in living memory and the sun is just beating down all day with no rain for months (apart from the odd warm shower) - can't sleep at night - whether afloat or ashore its so f...ing hot, the temperature of lake Geneva is like yr bath, like 26 degrees C. Only respite from the heat is a pint of iced G+T, every half hour or as fast as u can drink it! Suffering! Prying for a drop o rain! Please let it rain!
