rang my Engineer today - We agreed two weeks ago he would be round !!!

So today - I reminded /forums/images/icons/crazy.gif him to come and tune my engine for me.

Anyway - we agreed 6pm tonight - Will someone be in - says he - YES says I.

Did he turn up - Nope
Did he ring - Nope
Am I surprised - Nope

Bl**dy typical - lucky i'm at home tomorrow cus I'll ring him again and agree another date he'll fail to meet

The joys of crap service - and he's one of the GOOD guys !!!!

This is typical. Luckily I have a good man who is always on time but it depends where you are whether he can come to you. His name is SIMON and his tel. No. is 01494713087.
He doesn't do Outboards.

I think the word "typical" is relevant here.

It's not about putting up with this type of service but about market forces and the options available. If there is little choice then you have to select the best .... and put up with it.

The follow up for this is:-

I rang the guy Tuesday this week and said "I'm off in the boat this weekend and so you MUST come this week or else I can't go away" - "OK said he I'll def be there this week"

By midday yesterday (Friday) nothing ..... zero ..... diddly squat......

Anyway my daughter's boyfriend knows this guy called "Dave" who is really good with engines. mmmm thinks I - so I arrange for him to come this morning.

Text orignal guy to say "don't bother"

So 8.30 this morning Dave arrives and hey presto - is he good or what .... After removing the air filter and checking over we even found that the fuel line was not firmly connected and we had dislodged a small (if there is such a thing) fuel leak and so re-conected with new clips.

Re-tuned and adjusted and ...... sounds wonderful ..... he even gave us a running commentary on what he was adjusting and why ......

Plan was that he would do it as a favour !!! He very reluctantly accepted a bottle of my best. Best bit is he is NOT in the marine trade but a agricultural worker, tractors etc .....

So I'm well happy and daughter is now in Dads good books. Thanks Dave!!

My experience is that if you can find a Farm Worker who knows Tractor Engines then you are home and dry. These dudes have to make & mend literally "in the field". In fact if these guyz knew how much they could earn on the side they'd be working their dayz off and driving Beemers. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

I cant understand the need for special marine engineers. Why dont all the local garages service boats. The engines are just the same and everything else is just basic engineering.

<hr width=100% size=1> <font color=blue>No one can force me to come here.<font color=red> I'm a volunteer!!.<font color=blue>
